About

You Want To Know Something About Me?

It is a fair desire on your part; to know something about me, that is. So let me explain a little bit about myself.

I was born in the late 70s in MidWest USA and have lived here my whole life. I grew up in a Fundamentalist-leaning Evangelical Independent Baptist church (how’s that for specification). I had a public education through high-school, went to Fundamentalist Bible College, received a BA in history from Christian liberal arts university, and an MDiv from an Evangelical Seminary. I got married in 2003, and as of 2012 have 4 children (with no intention to have more). Those are the stats and I’m sticking to them.

Hey, You Didn’t Tell Me Who You Are

So you might be wondering, “What’s his name?” Maybe you want to Google me. Maybe you want to see if I’m a real person. I’m not entirely sure a name will help you know me any better than you do at this point.

Here’s the thing, I’m not ready to reveal who I am. Why? Look at my background and then read this blog and see if they match. Most likely they won’t entirely fit and that’s why I’m not going to give out my name. You see, in the circles I grew up in, honest questioning and being who you are is not allowed.

No, nobody verbally said “Don’t ask questions.” or “Stop being who you are.” I don’t come from a cult. At the same time, however, it’s understood that there is a certain set of beliefs you must hold and there is a certain sort of person you ought to be. That can become a strangle-hold on a person.

Honest Exploration

I want to explore things, I want to think deeply without fear. And I’m not ready for people I know to question my exploration. Not yet. Give me time.

So eventually I might attach a name to this blog. But as it stands, I choose to remain semi-anonymous for the reasons I’ve given above.
